Own Your Numbers vs Nume.
This is the fairest fight on the card: one five-star review each, both of us pointed at the founder who does not want to play CFO. The difference is philosophy. Nume's pitch is breadth: an AI CFO that "monitors everything". Ours is deliberate narrowness: one number that matters - your cash cushion in months - plus the risk rating, the debtors to chase and five actions, every Monday. Monitor everything, or own one number. Pick the sentence that sounds like relief.
Full disclosure before the bell: as of 27 August, Nume shows 1 review at 5.0 on the Xero App Store, and so do we. They have been listed since at least late 2025 (their review is dated December 2025); we arrived in August 2026 and picked ours up in week two. Either way, neither of us gets to wave a review corpus at you, so this page can only compare what each product says it is, and I will quote them fairly.
What Nume says it does
From their own listing: "Founders, stop playing CFO. Nume is your AI CFO for Xero that monitors everything - cash flow, profitability, compliance, whatever keeps you up at night. Customised to your business, Nume delivers exactly what you need, when it matters. No noise, just peace of mind. Sleep soundly, build boldly." It is a good pitch, and the diagnosis is one we share completely: founders should not have to play CFO.
Where we genuinely differ
Scope. "Monitors everything" is a breadth promise, and breadth is a real product philosophy - it is also what dashboards promise. We went the other way on purpose: one number (months of cushion), one rhythm (Monday), one output that lands in your WhatsApp or inbox and reads in a minute, because in my experience owners do not act on everything, they act on the next thing. The second difference is checkable rather than philosophical: our four trust answers are stated in writing - read-only with no write-back, data read on demand then discarded, never used to train any AI model, processed in Google Cloud's UK region. The four questions work on any AI tool; ask them of both of us and compare the answers you get.
How to choose on thin evidence
The honest way: trials. Both of us have everything to prove, so make us prove it on your own Xero. Our standard applies to this page too - if a fortnight of briefings has not told you something you did not already know, walk away, whichever of us you walk to.
| The question | Nume (their words) | Own Your Numbers |
|---|---|---|
| Philosophy | "Monitors everything" | One number, owned |
| Rhythm | "When it matters" | Every Monday, one minute |
| Trust answers in writing | Ask them the four questions | Read-only, discard, never trains, UK region |
| Evidence | 1 review (5.0), listed since 2025 | 1 review (5.0), listed August 2026 |
If you are the accountant, bookkeeper or fractional FD
Both products pitch founders; briefings that send themselves also happen to be exactly what a practice needs across a client list. Connect each client read-only under one account: every client's cushion and risk rating in one Monday scan, briefings you can share without granting anyone write access, and the monthly pack stays yours. The practice workflow is its own page.
