Own Your Numbers vs Syft.
Syft is the deepest reporting tool on the Xero App Store, and if reporting depth is your problem, buy Syft. It is a practice tool at heart: whole accountancy firms run their client packs on it, and Xero liked it enough to buy the company. Own Your Numbers does one job Syft is not really pointed at: telling a busy owner, every Monday, whether the cash is safe and what to do about it. Depth for the person who goes looking; a verdict for the person who does not.
Respect where it is due first: 4.81 average across 476 reviews, and the reporting-depth champion of the category by its own reviewers' words: 284 of the 476 reviews in our corpus mention reports or reporting, the highest proportion of any tool we analysed, with drill-down to transaction level. And in 2024 Xero bought the company; Syft's engine now powers the analytics inside Xero itself. You do not get acquired by your own platform for being mediocre.
Who is Syft actually for?
Look at who reviews it: 30 per cent of its reviews mention clients, the highest rate of any tool on our pages. Practices moving client packs out of Excel, consolidations, valuations, statutory-style reports. If you have an accountant who loves Syft, that is a good sign about your accountant. The recent negatives worth reading before you buy: a multi-year user finding it "extremely slow" on five consolidated entities (1 star, March 2026), a 2-star on statutory IFRS accounts, a trial limited to basic functions, and one review calling the pricing roughly double comparable alternatives - one review of 476, and Syft does not publish prices, so we cannot check it.
Do I need Syft if I am not an accountant?
Honestly: probably not directly. You need what Syft produces - if somebody finance-literate is producing it. The gap it leaves for an owner-director is the same one every reporting tool leaves: across all the Syft, Fathom and Float reviews in our corpus, 4 mention debtors or chasing and 1 mentions runway or months of cash. Nobody is buying these tools to answer "is my cash safe this week". That is the whole of our job: cash, net cash, cushion in months, a risk rating, the debtors to chase and five actions, pushed to your WhatsApp or inbox every Monday, read in a minute, read-only from Xero. Syft gives the person who goes looking depth; ours gives the person who does not a verdict - fast, clear and opinionated on purpose.

If you are the accountant, bookkeeper or fractional FD
If Syft is your practice reporting engine, this is the between-packs layer: nothing to produce, it sends itself. Connect each client read-only under one account: every client's cushion and risk rating in one Monday scan, briefings you can share without granting anyone write access, and the monthly pack stays yours. The practice workflow is its own page.
